#1A is a low pH pre-soak when used at proper dilution has minimal reaction with aluminum.  Although it can't be considered a true "safe on polish" first step in a 2-step wash, it does not contain any hydroflouric, hydrochloric, or sulfuric acids.  Effective in cleaning aluminum and road film.
