Material Manager

 

The Material Manager is responsible for the overall procurement of supplies, including freight logistics to ensure the inflow of materials into the company and the timely outflow of finished goods to the end user.

QUARTERLY ROCKS

Each quarter the Material Manager will establish, with the Director of Finance, the specific results, improvements, or accomplishments required to support HCS and departmental objectives. These are expressed as ROCKS.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Lead, Manage &  Accountability (LMA)
  • Maintains optimal inventory levels across all departments to ensure on-time shipment of equipment, parts, and detergents.
  • Research and evaluate alternate suppliers to achieve the best quality product at competitive pricing.
  • Maintain vendor relationships and negotiations for raw materials, supply chain, and freight rates.
  • Shipping logistics and regulatory compliance, which includes hazardous materials.
  • Inventory accuracy and cycle count management.
  • Interface with product departments for forecasting and inventory needs.
  • Proactive with market trends and strategy proposals.

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. The intent of this position description is to guide the activities of the Material Manager. Requirements

Educational Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Requirements

Technical Experience: forklift license required, MAPICS preferred, JIT or Lean manufacturing preferred
Industry Experience: 3-year minimum experience in manufacturing required, previous experience with hazardous chemicals preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Extended hours in front of a computer screen.
  • Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Lifting- raising, lowering, or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Desk space related tasks such as computer work, including typing.
  • Speaking to and hearing customers on the phone.
  • Handling chemicals.

    and accounting software packages)
  • Follow Directions: Able to complete verbal and written directions.
