Technical Specialist I

The Technical Specialist work includes but not limited to, service training, remote automated programming, technical support for pressure washer and automated repair, customer support, scheduling, and repair estimates. The Service Department represents “the face or voice of the company” and are required to promote the company and our services in a professional manner, treating our customers as an extension of the HCS family.

QUARTERLY ROCKS

Each quarter the Technical Specialist will establish, with the Service Manager, the specific results, improvements, or accomplishments required to support HCS and departmental objectives. These are expressed as ROCKS.

Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Regional travel to customer sites for the purpose of training staff.
  • Technical support for customers on automated systems and pressure washers.
  • Automated system programming.
  • Scheduling of service calls.
  • Willing to take calls during irregular hours, including evenings and occasional weekends. Valid driver’s license and driving record that meet car rental, company insurance requirements and Federal guidelines for driving a commercial motor vehicle.
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor; be able to maintain composure with challenging customers.
  • Staff training and coordination.
  • Preventative Maintenance Program scheduling and tracking.
  • Utilization of company CRM for tracking customer interactions.
  • Read and understand mechanical and electrical blueprints/schematics.
  • Strong decision-making capabilities; sometimes quickly with logic to back-up decision.

Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. The intent of this position description is to guide the  activities of the Technical Specialist. Requirements

Educational Requirements
Minimum GED required. Additional trade/tech schooling with an emphasis in mechanical repair preferred

Requirements

Technical Experience: Experience with technical instruments and tools both mechanical and electrical.
Industry Experience: At least 3 years of previous experience in a technician role required.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged sitting while working at a computer or on the phone.
  • Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Talking; expressing or exchanging ideas by mean of the spoken word.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Effective communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment and to interact with various internal and external customers.
  • Technical/Professional Knowledge: Understands technical terminology and developments. Knows how/when to apply technical skills or procedures. Performs complex tasks in area of expertise.
  • Mechanically Inclined: intuitively can take apart, put together or design “things” that are mechanical, selecting the most appropriate materials and tools to complete the work.
  • Customer Service Oriented: high level of patience and attentiveness (listening) when handling customer needs; act with urgency and in a professional manner.
  • Highly Organized: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details and activities.
